We are delighted to announce that thanks to the many donations received from members of the American organization Tauck and the Japanese organization Fiesole Hills Club, the Associazione Bastioni is about to purchased a trinocular stereo microscope, a vital tool to undertake diagnostic protocols required for conservation campaigns and procedures.
This generous donation will undoubtedly render our work more streamline, time efficient and productive. In the name of the entire Associazione Bastioni I want to express my gratitude and heartfelt thanks for the generosity shown to us by Tauck visitors and by Mr Kowa Shirosaki, president of the organization Fiesole Hills Club.
Donations have arrived to us mainly through the purchase of a booklet called Tips, finding your way around workshops and sites. Tips is the result of a common idea shared between myself and a dear colleague and friend, the conservator/restorer Alberto Felici who as a young man begun compiling a small booklet made up of an array of tips given to him by retired conservators, teachers and colleagues. The collected tips were a magnificent assortment of what at times appeared to be bizarre, yet also highly useful and imaginative advice on how to resolve on-site day-to-day problems. On deciding that publication was a must, we thought it would be a grand idea to update the material by including tips from professionals who work together with conservators and restorers and whose contributions are vital for the holistic approach that is today expected from our profession. Emails requesting more tips were sent to scientists, chemists, photographers, art historians, architects and engineers and the published version of Tips was finally born. Tips is both useful, enlightening and at times even philosophical; a must for any conservator or restorer who still believes that curiosity is the key that opens the learning process and that the learning process is a never-ending experience that can only lead to growth.
A special thanks therefore also goes to the author of Tips,
Alberto Felici and to Andrea Galeazzi the editor of Nardini editore, whose help, support and encouragement has proved vital to make Tips our most important fund raising tool.

Thank you.
